Winners medals for the Wessex League Cup final, arranged with a trophy on a table.
the wessex way is all about the wessex league.  the league started in 1986/87 with the inaugural champions being bashley.  many of the top teams in the region now have been members of the wessex league in the past - salisbury, eastleigh, sholing, afc totton, weymouth to name but a few.
currently the league has 20 teams in the premier division and 22 in division one.  the teams compete in a variety of cups and recently have shown good results in the fa vase with afc stoneham making the semi finals in 2025/26
the clubs come from central southern england - hampshire, the isle of wight, dorset, wiltshire and somerset.  the boundaries do move a little season by season and sometimes includes teams in west sussex.  possibly the longest away trip is petersfield to portland at 190 miles return by road.
this project brings together long time friends photographer robin caddy and the writing skills of tim smith.  they first met on winchester hospital radio more years ago than they'd care to admit.
