AFC Stoneham were crowned Wessex League champions for the first time in 2025/26 and completed an incredible season by lifting the FA Vase, defeating Cockfosters on penalties after a 0-0 draw in the final at Wembley.
Stoneham quickly became a force to be reckoned with in the Wessex Premier following promotion as Division One champions in 2018/19, finishing second in 2023/24 and 2024/25, only to suffer play-off defeats.
The club can trace their history back to 1919 when demobbed soldiers formed a club called Royal Engineers (Ordnance Survey Office). They played in local and the Hampshire leagues before joining the Wessex League as Ordnance Survey for two seasons (2004/05 and 2005/06) and a third as Stoneham in 2006/07. There was a further name change to AFC Stoneham in 2007 with a return to the Wessex in 2014/15.
The club moved to their current venue at the Stoneham Lane Football Complex in 2020 with their new home the result of a partnership between the club and the Hampshire FA. Their 4G home pitch is surrounded by three other artificial pitches which are used by their sixty other teams making Stoneham the second largest grassroots club in the UK.
The ground has a 150-seat stand on one side and extra seating and facilities will be added following promotion to the Isthmian League.
To find the ground leave the M27 at J5 (1st exit if coming from M3) and follow signs to neighbouring Eastleigh FC. Go past Eastleigh’s ground, under the motorway, and Stoneham is on the left. Use postcode SO16 2PA or what three words pace.mull.staple. By bus take the number 2 from Southampton or Eastleigh to the Trojans Sports Club stop. The club website is here.
