One of the oldest clubs in Dorset, formed in 1882, Blandford United joined the Wessex League in 2026/27.
Blandford played in county football for 130 years, latterly in the Dorset Combination and Dorset Premier League. They were league champions six times, most recently in 2025/26 (following successive fifth, third and fourth place finishes) which earned them their place in the Wessex.
Blandford’s cup exploits have been limited, with their best performance reaching the FA Cup third qualifying round way back in 1920/21 and again in 1950/51.
The Royals play in front of good-sized crowds at the Recreation Ground, which is shared with the town’s cricket club. The tree-lined ground has one small covered terrace on one side, with more covered standing in front of the adjacent clubhouse.

Approaching Blandford Forum by the A350 or A354 the Recreation Ground is off Milldown Road, next to Blandford Community Hospital.
