Bemerton Heath Harlequins returned to the Wessex League in 2025/26 after two seasons in the Southern League Division One South. They ended both in mid-table but asked for voluntary relegation and finished 16th in their first season back in the Wessex.
Based in the city of Salisbury the club was formed in 1989, through a merger of three local teams. They immediately joined the Wessex and finished in the top half of the table for all but one of their first twelve seasons. They were founder members of the Wessex Premier in 2006/07 and had a purple patch at the start of the next decade, finishing runners-up in both 2010/11 and 2011/12.
Bemerton were relegated to Division One in 2018/19 but bounced back as champions in 2021/22 and then finished Wessex Premier runners-up the very next season to win promotion.
Bemmy’s best run in the FA Cup came in 1992/93 when they reached the third qualifying round. They have had a number of good Vase runs, culminating in 2012/13 when they reached the last sixteen before a defeat at eventual winners Spennymoor Town.
Bemerton play at the A-Class Arena, with a capacity of 2100. The ground has a covered stand for 250 on one side, where there is also covered standing. An unusual feature are the 30 seats on the front of the large clubhouse behind one goal.
The postcode for the ground is SP2 9DR. By car take the Wilton Road (A36) out of the city centre or by bus take the Red 1 from Fisherton Street (near the station) to Empire Road, then follow the directions on the club website.
