Horndean became a Wessex League powerhouse between 2015 and 2024, finishing fifth, sixth, fourth and second in the Premier Division and, after the Covid break, winning the Wessex League title in 2022/23.
This earned them promotion to the Isthmian League for a three-year stay before relegation saw them return to the Wessex.
The club was founded as long ago as 1887, playing in local leagues before joining the Hampshire League in 1972. They remained there for 14 years before becoming founder members of the Wessex League in 1986/87. Horndean were relegated back to the Hampshire League in 1995 but rejoined the Wessex in Division Two in 2004/05.
Cup success has so far been limited for the Dean – their best performances being reaching the FA Cup second qualifying round in 2023/24, the FA Trophy third qualifying round in 2024/25 and the FA Vase third round in 2012/13 and 2017/18.
The club plays at Five Heads Park in the village of Horndean. The ground has a seated stand and clubhouse with some standing outside on one side and a small covered standing area at one end.
The ground is close to the A3(M) (junction 2 exit to Horndean/Cowplain) – use postcode PO8 0NZ or What3Words moss.certainly.bombshell. By public transport the best route is by train to Petersfield and then the Stagecoach 37 bus to Napier Road in Horndean but use the My Journey Hampshire planner to check times.
