Fareham Town returned to the Wessex League for 2026/27 after a one-season stay in the Isthmian League. Before this the Creeksiders had played in the Wessex League for 27 consecutive seasons, with their best position being third in 2024/25 leading to a play-off victory over Hamble Club.
Before opting to join the Wessex in 1997, Fareham had been a Southern League club for 19 years, including eight in the Southern League Premier Division with a best finish of eighth.
The club was formed in 1946, playing in the Portsmouth Senior and Hampshire leagues. They were Hampshire League champions eight times, including five in a row in the sixties.
The Creeksiders have a proud history in the FA Cup, reaching the first round proper four times, most recently in 1988/89 when they held league club Torquay United to a 2-2 draw, before losing the home replay 3-2.
Fareham’s best performance in the FA Trophy was in 1986/87 when they beat the top two sides in the GM Vauxhall Conference (Scarborough and Barnet) before a semi-final defeat to Kidderminster Harriers. The home leg was played at The Dell in Southampton, attracting a 6000-plus crowd.
Fareham have played at the Cams Alders Sports Stadium since 1975. With a 4,500 capacity, the main feature of the ground is the 450-seater main stand, the largest in the Wessex League. There is also covered standing behind one goal.
