Petersfield Town are now in their third spell as a Wessex League club, with their golden period coming between 2013 and 2015 when they became the first team to win successive Wessex League Division One and Premier Division championships.
The current club was set up in 1993, as a successor to Petersfield United who folded after 104 years when they were denied permission for a move from the Isthmian to Wessex leagues.
After four seasons in Wessex Division One, Town were relegated to the Hampshire League in 1996-97 before joining the new Wessex Division Two in 2004-05, with their historic championship double happening ten years later.
Petersfield then spent two seasons at Southern League First Division Central level before successive relegations to the Wessex League Premier and then Division One. They were promoted back to the Wessex Premier in 2022-23 after beating New Milton on penalties in the play-off final.
At the end of the 2023-24 season Petersfield were moved sideways into the Southern Combination League (reaching the play-offs) but returned to the Wessex fold for the 2025-26 season, where after a great start they fell away to finish 11th.
Petersfield’s best FA Cup run came in 2015-16 when they reached the third qualifying round before losing to National League South St Albans City.
The Rams play at the 3000 capacity Smartspaces Stadium in Love Lane, which has a covered 250-seater sand plus an additional covered area.
To find the ground use postcode GU31 4BW, or it’s a short walk from both Petersfield town centre and the railway station. There’s more information about the club on their website.
