It was third time lucky for Fleetlands in 2025/26 when they were crowned Wessex League Division One champions, sealing promotion to the Wessex Premier for the first time.
In the previous two seasons the Gosport-based club had finished fifth in the league and then lost play-off semi-finals to Millbrook and Frimley Green.
Fleetlands were original members of the Wessex League Division Three (later Division Two) in 2004/05 becoming champions two years later. However they chose to join the new Hampshire Premier League and returned to the Wessex only in 2022/23. The club had been founded in 1947 and spent the first 57 years of their existence in the Portsmouth and Hampshire leagues.
They have played in the FA Vase since rejoining the Wessex League with their best performance reaching the first round proper in 2024/25.
Fleetlands are proud of their association with the MoD and their ground has the unique distinction of having an active helicopter landing area on one side, with frequent visits from Chinooks, Lynxes and Sea Kings – hence the club’s nickname of the Coptermen.
Their ground in Lederle Lane is known as Powder Monkey Park, following sponsorship from a local brewery. It features two 100-seater stands and a small covered standing area.
To reach Powder Monkey Park (PO13 0RX) leave the M27 at Junction 11, follow the A32 through Fareham towards Gosport and turn left after the KFC. The ground is 2.3 miles from Fareham station but the E2 Eclipse bus stop at Vian Close is just six minutes‘ walk away. Visit the club website here.
