Christchurch have been members of the Wessex League for all but two seasons of its existence, joining in 1987-88. Their current run in the Wessex Premier has lasted eight seasons, with a highest position of 10th in 2024-25
Founded as far back as 1885, the Church spent much of the last century in the Bournemouth and Hampshire leagues, winning the Hampshire Division Two title in 1985-86 and earning promotion to the Wessex League two years later. They settled comfortably in mid-table, reaching fifth place in 1995-6 and 1998-99. League restructuring saw Christchurch join the Wessex Premier in 2005-06 with successive third place finishes in 2011-12 and 2012-13, though relegation followed two years later. They were promoted as Division One champions in 2017-18.
Christchurch’s best FA Cup run came in 2020-21 when they reached the third qualifying round, with the bonus of their tie against Dulwich Hamlet featuring live on BBC TV’s Road to Wembley with the Church losing only on penalties. They reached the fifth round of the FA Vase in 2008-09.
Christchurch moved from the Barrack Recreation Ground to their current home at Hurn Bridge in 1985. The town’s cricket club play at the same location. The ground features an unusual cantilever stand built in 1996.
